VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College softball team faced another tough test in losing a pair of games to NACC preseason favorite, Aurora University, 8-0, and 14-1, on Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles (2-20, 0-8 NACC) surrendered six RBI singles and an RBI double against a Spartan team that scored in all but one inning of an 8-0 defeat. Karly Vigani, Jordan Anderson, and Hanna Parisi each registered a hit, but struggled against Aurora's undefeated starter, Britni Wilson (4-0).
Wilson tossed a three-hit shutout and struck out five Eagles in the win. She was backed by a Spartan offense that has outscored its NACC opponents, 86-15, en route to its 8-0 conference start.
Eagle starter Shannon Whitmus (2-15) gave up eight runs (six earned) in six innings of work.
It was a tough go-around in game two after the Eagles gave up six runs in the first inning in an eventual 14-1 defeat.
Anderson's single moved Grace Delleman into scoring position and broke up Aurora's no-hitter in the bottom of the fourth inning. Parisi followed with an RBI double to score Delleman and represented the Eagles lone run of the day.
The Spartans (19-5, 8-0 NACC) added 10 hits, including a pair of home runs, in their 12th straight victory. Aurora improved to 26-0 all-time against the Eagles.
Delleman (0-5) allowed eight earned runs and seven hits over four innings.
