River Forest, Ill. – The Edgewood College softball team suffered a pair of 10-1 defeats to Concordia Chicago and were held to just four total hits in a Saturday doubleheader.
The Eagles (3-23, 1-11 NACC) posted three hits, one each by starting pitcher Shannon Whitmus, Jordan Anderson, and Hanna Parisi, in a 10-1 defeat to the Cougars (16-6, 6-6 NACC) in game one. It was tough sledding against a Cougar team that utilized four run-scoring singles en route to a 10-0 lead through the first three innings.
Parisi added an RBI single to score Whitmus in the fourth inning and represented the Eagles only run of the game. Parisi finished 1-for-2 and now has at least one hit in nine of her last 10 games.
Whitmus (3-17) allowed 10 runs (eight earned) and nine hits in four innings of work.
The Cougars won by an identical score of 10-1 in the night cap as the Eagles were held to just one hit.
Right fielder Megan Hauge posted the only hit for an Eagle offense that scored their only run off a throwing error by the Cougar catcher. Concordia Chicago's starting pitcher Julianne Nation (4-3) held the Eagles in check after allowing one unearned run, one hit, and four walks, while striking out four in five innings.
Sophomore starter Grace Delleman (0-6) gave up 10 runs (six earned) and six hits over four innings.
The Eagles have Easter Sunday off before taking on Dominican on the road this Monday, April 17 at 4:00 p.m. in Rosemont, Ill.
