PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Senior Adam Freitag scored a team-high 18 points, but the Edgewood College men's basketball team lost on the road at Lakeland, 79-62, on Tuesday night.
Both teams duked it out in the game's first 10 minutes and were tied at 24 after four ties and seven lead changes. The Eagles gave up an ensuing 4-0 run by the Muskies (8-11, 6-9 NACC) that put the hosts up for good en route to a 42-34 halftime deficit.
Freitag and senior Spencer Barnes each scored 10 points by halftime, but couldn't overcome 14 points from Joshuan McNeal and a Muskie offense that shot nearly 60 percent.
The Eagles (4-16, 4-11 NACC) surrendered another crucial 6-0 run to begin the second half and trailed by double-digits throughout the final period in their fifth-straight defeat.
Freitag scored in double-digits for the sixth straight game and finished 7-for-17 from the floor while Barnes posted all 10 of his points in the first half. Sophomore Tyler Lemke, the team's leading scorer at 13.3 ppg, chipped in seven points with a game-high 12 boards.
Lemke was the only starter who didn't commit a turnover as the Muskies turned 17 Eagle miscues into 27 points. Joshuan McNeal led the Muskie offense with a game-high 26 points on 10 of 15 shooting to go with eight rebounds.
Despite the loss, the Eagles still lead the all-time series 39-25, but have dropped their last four games to the Muskies.
Next up for the Eagles is a trip to Rockford University this Saturday, February 4 at 4:15 p.m.
