MADISON, Wis. – Despite a productive night from the Eagle offense and four double-digit scorers led by Tyler Lemke's game-high 19 points, the Eagle offensive were held without a field goal in the final two minutes and 47 seconds of a 76-72 defeat to Dominican on Tuesday night.
Sporting a 70-68 lead with two minutes and 47 seconds to go, the Eagles (2-4, 2-2 NACC) missed two free throws and both shots, including a potential go ahead three pointer with seven seconds remaining, in their second-straight loss to the Stars.
After trailing the entirety of the first half and down 39-35 at the break, Lemke nailed a three-pointer and converted a layup that fueled a 10-2 run to open the second half and helped secure the Eagles' first lead of the game. Neither team led by more than seven points in a final period that featured nine ties and five lead changes.
It was the third-straight game the Eagles have sported four double-digit scorers with Staver (16 points), Barnes (15), and Freitag (12) adding to Lemke's contributions. Staver posted a game-high five assists and shot 5-for-7 from the field while Emil Radisevic pulled down a season-high 15 boards.
The Eagles (2-4, 2-2 NACC) shot 49 percent from the field, but were outdone in the paint, 38-22, and connected on just 12-of-22 free throws in a tight game.
Dominican's Charlie Ollis, who sealed the deal with a pair of free throws with 3.3 seconds left, matched Tim Robertson with a team-high 17 points and led four Stars in double-digits. Ollis finished 9-of-9 at the free throw line as Dominican converted 14 of 18 on the game.
