PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The Edgewood College men's soccer team endured a tough finish to the season with a 5-0 defeat at UW-Platteville on Wednesday night.
It was the season finale for an Eagles (7-12, 4-6 NACC) team that was outshot, 19-5, against the Pioneers on their Senior Night. The Eagles kept it scoreless through the game's first 27 minutes, but the Pioneers (12-6) scored twice in a 37 second span to put the Eagles in a 2-0 hole in the 29th minute.
UW-Platteville net one more goal before half and added scores early in the second to secure the final margin.
Sophomore Garrett Lee, who will end the season as the Eagles leading goal scorer for the second straight year, led the team with two shots tonight. He finished with 10 goals and now has 16 career scores.
Eagle goalkeeper Brandyn Storhoff (0-1) secured four saves in his second start of the season and was relieved by freshman Steven Canterbury with 30 minutes remaining. It was the Eagles fourth straight loss to the Pioneers as they dropped to 4-10 in the all-time series.
The Eagles will end their 2016 campaign seventh place in the NACC, just two points out from qualifying for the conference tournament.
