MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Senior Emily Skaer and sophomore Alisha Nolden each scored and assisted on each other's goals to guarantee the Edgewood College women's soccer team a top-2 NACC finish with a 2-0 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran on Wednesday night.
With the win, the Eagles have earned the right to a NACC tournament first round bye and will now host a tournament semifinal match. It is their third, top-2 finish in the last five seasons. The Eagles currently trail the undefeated NACC leader, MSOE (8-0), with one match remaining.
Skaer opened the scoring with a 25th minute tapper over the keeper from inside the goalie box off Nolden's assist. The Eagles (12-3, 8-1 NACC) leading scorer returned the favor with an arcing corner kick that Nolden drilled with 17 seconds remaining in the match.
Both led a dominant offensive Eagle attack that outshot the opposition, 19-3, and owned an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks. Sophomore Mady Warda, who attempted a season-high seven shots, helped the Eagles send the reeling Warriors (3-14, 1-7 NACC) to their seventh straight defeat.
Eagle goalkeeper Sabelle Seabrook (11-3) earned her seventh shutout of NACC play thanks to one save.
The Eagles will face Dominican (5-3 NACC) on the road in their season finale this Saturday, October 22 at 12:00 p.m. It will be followed by Senior Day on Sunday in a non-conference bout with St. Norbert.
