MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Playing without their leading scorer Tuesday night away from home, the Edgewood College Eagles dropped to 2-11 overall and 1-7 in the NACC after a 70-38 defeat to league-leading Wisconsin Lutheran College (9-3, 7-0 NACC). Freshman forward Allison Gordon scored a career-high 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting in the loss.
In the first 3:28 Gordon had already converted on three layups. One possession later, Sierra Jiran hit 1-of-2 free throws to give the Eagles a 7-5 lead for their last advantage in the game. The Warriors had a lay-in and a three-pointer on back-to-back possessions immediately after to go up 3 and never trailed from there on out.
The Warriors then scored the first 12 points of the second period to go up 29-15. Cole Jordee got the Eagles on board in the quarter with a free throw as the Eagles would go 8-of-11 from the charity stripe during the frame.
Wisconsin Lutheran would keep the pressure steady by outscoring the Eagles 21-7 in the third, while Jiran had four points and Erin Morovits had a three-pointer in the fourth to close things out.
Gordon's performance Tuesday was her second-straight game in double figures, as she scored 10 points this past Saturday against Alverno for her first career 10-point game. She had seven points in each half on Tuesday and also pulled down seven offensive rebounds (nine total). Jiran had 12 on 3-of-7 shooting for her seventh game in double figures this year.
The Eagles will close out the week with another road NACC game. They will take on Rockford University on Saturday, Jan. 9 at 4:15 pm in Seaver Gymnasium.
