DECORAH, Iowa – The Edgewood College women's soccer team's defense held strong most of the day under Luther College's attack, but two goals by the Norse in a span of 63 seconds spelled defeat for the Eagles. The loss marked the third straight defeat for Edgewood College heading into the team's NACC opener next Saturday at Aurora.
The Norse fired off six shots in the first 23 minutes, but it was the seventh and eighth shots that did the damage. Melissa Chasse crossed to Erika Balk who finished past Eagles goalkeeper Sabelle Seabrook for a 1-0 Luther College (4-1) lead in the 26th minute. Then, just over a minute later Chasse found Ellie Bunz with a pass and Bunz put the Norse ahead 2-0.
Edgewood College wasn't credited with a shot attempt for the game. Seabrook made seven saves for the Eagles. Edgewood College (2-3) will return to action next Saturday against NACC preseason favorite Aurora University.
