Raiders end Eagles' season with double OT goal

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Like they have most of the season, the Edgewood College women's soccer team leaned on their defense in their NACC Tournament first round match against MSOE. However, the Raiders broke through with a double overtime game-winning goal to end the Eagles season with a 2-1 victory. Edgewood College closes the year with an 8-10 record.

Sixth-seeded Edgewood College put third seeded MSOE (13-6) on their heels right away. Following the Eagles first corner kick in the 15th minute, the Raiders failed to clear the ball from danger. Stevie Grable picked off the clearing pass and fed it to a cutting Hannah Menzia who put the Eagles ahead 1-0 with her third goal of the season.

MSOE answered back just six minutes later. Tori St. Martin scored off a corner kick from Becca Keller to tie the match 1-1. The Raiders held a 22-5 edge in shots through regulation play, but neither team scored. Eagle goalkeeper Sabelle Seabrook made a career-high 14 saves to keep Edgewood College in the game.

Ultimately it was another corner kick that undid the Eagles. In the 103rd minute, Keller launched another corner kick to the middle of the box. This one found the head of Sara Travia who put it away to end the game and the Eagles' season.

Hannah Menzia led the Eagles with three shots, including two on goal. Senior Jennifer Dailey had two shots including on the net. The game marked the end of the careers of four Edgewood College seniors: Dailey, Megan Bower, Erin Peterson and Brooke Menzia.
