Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Five goals in first 15 minutes propels Eagles

MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's soccer team wasted little time in establishing who would be in control of Saturday's match. The Eagles blitzed the Lakeland College backline, scoring five goals in the first 15 minutes of the match on their way to an 8-0 victory. Edgewood College scored on each of their first five shots.

Alisha Nolden accounted for three goals on the day, bringing her season total to a team-high seven goals. The first goal came just a little more than four minutes into the contest when Stevie Grable sprung Emily Skaer with a through ball. Skaer sent a low cross to the middle for Nolden who one-timed a shot into the lower right corner.

Edgewood College (7-7, 4-4 NACC) then put the game out of reach with four goals in a span of 3:21. Skaer netted the first when Lakeland goalkeeper Jessica Carter couldn't find the handle on an Eagle corner kick. A minute later Grable picked off a pass, dribble around two Muskie defenders and placed a shot in the lower left corner for an unassisted goal. Jennifer Dailey scored again inside the 13th minute taking a through ball from Taylor Pampuch and firing a rocket into the upper right corner of the net. Then in the 15th minute, Nolden got her second of the day, working a give-and-go down the middle with Pampuch.

Nolden completed her hat trick in the 22nd minute, scoring a header off a Haley Gaines corner kick. In the 36th minute Pampuch added a goal to her two assists. Hannah Menzia was brought down in the penalty area and Pampuch delivered a successful penalty kick. The Eagles final score came on a Lakeland College (4-13, 1-6 NACC) own goal in the second half.

Nolden completed her first career hat trick and now has seven goals in six games since being inserted as a starter. Pampuch leads the Eagles in scoring with 20 points and a conference-leading 10 assists.

Edgewood College will be back home on Wednesday night for a key NACC match with Wisconsin Lutheran College. The Eagles are in a tight battle for one of the six spots available for the NACC Tournament with just two league games to play.
