Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Eagles record shutout in win over Beloit

BELOIT, Wis. - Taking a break from Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action, the Edgewood College men's soccer team put up a commanding victory over Beloit College Sunday afternoon away from home. Evan Rogaczewski scored his third of the year and Zander Rothering notched his first collegiate goal of his career to lead the Eagles to their sixth victory of the season.

The Eagles, now sitting at 6-5-1 overall on the year, outshot the Buccaneers 13-7 overall and were up 8-3 in that category at the half. Edgewood College goaltenders Matt Dammen and Kyle Wood, who played the final 11 minutes, 42 seconds in the net, each registered one save in the game. Beloit College goaltender BJ Kiser suffered the loss after giving up two goals. Jere Bauer relieved Kiser and stopped two Edgewood College shots.

Rogaczewski scored his third goal of the season, which now ranks tied for second on the team, on assists from Zander Rothering and Henry Simon. The goal, which came in the 16th minute, helped the Eagles settle into a groove for the rest of the game, as the Buccaneers scoring chances would be limited from then on out.

Zander Rothering would then secure his first collegiate goal shortly after the half, as the freshman forward from Richland Center, Wis., buried it on a pass from Simon in the 50th minute. Rothering is now the ninth player to score a goal for the Eagles this season.

The Eagles will enjoy a five-day break before hosting Dominican University Saturday at Warner Park. Game time is scheduled for 1:30 pm.
