Falcons down Eagles in regular season finale

Max Harty
Box Score MEQUON, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's soccer team had hopes of possibly snatching a fourth seed and first round home game in the NACC Tournament with a win over Concordia University Wisconsin. The Falcons motivation to get into the postseason turned out to be a little stronger, as CUW snuck out a 1-0 victory to get into the NACC Tournament and drop the Eagles to the sixth seed.

Concordia University Wisconsin (9-7-2, 6-3-1 NACC) came out firing on the Eagles net. The Falcons had six shots, including two that were saved by Edgewood College starting goalkeeper Matt Dammen, before they found a goal. Keeg Van Dusseldorp took a give-and-go pass from Gavin Winston and scored his 10th goal of the season.

On the other end, Edgewood College struggled to generate much of a threat. The Eagles had three shots in the first half, one each from Andrew Aurit, Evan Rogaczewski and Thini Messan. In the second half, Max Harty launched another attempt, but only Henry Simon in the 70th minute was able to force a save from Falcon goalkeeper Alec Brew.

The Falcons outshot the Eagles 19-5 for the match. Dammen made four saves in the first half, while Chad Stivers entered in the second half and made two saves.

Edgewood College will be the sixth seed for the NACC Tournament, which gets underway this Saturday. The Eagles will go on the road to third seed Aurora University. Game time for Saturday's match will be announced on Wednesday.
