RIPON, Wis. – For the second time in three games, the Edgewood College men's soccer team played a double overtime game that ended in a tie. The Eagles traveled to Ripon College looking for their first win since the season opener, but had to settle for a 0-0 tie after fending off a few Red Hawk attacks in overtime.

Both teams recorded scoring opportunities in the first five minutes. Ripon had a corner kick just four minutes in and Edgewood College's Alexander Ribeiro ripped a shot that was saved by goalkeeper Adam Haefner. Ripon (1-2-1) then followed with another corner kick, at the 10:26 mark and they recorded their first shot in the 17th minute.

Edgewood College (1-1-2) recorded the next two scoring opportunities, both coming within a couple minutes. At the 24:07 mark, Matt Pampuch fired a shot at the cage that was turned away by Haefner. Ribeiro tried again in the 26th minute, but his shot was also stopped by Haefner, keeping the contest scoreless.

The Red Hawks put pressure on the Eagles in the final 10 minutes of the first half, with Austin VanTreek taking a shot that was stopped by Kyle Koenig and taking a corner kick.

Both teams exchanged shots coming out of halftime, but both shots were stopped by the respective goalkeepers.

#A.J. Fameree# came up with the Eagles' best scoring opportunity of the game in the 72nd minute. The senior ripped a shot that beat Haefner, but ricocheted off the post, keeping the game tied.

In the 89th minute, Ripon put pressure on the Eagles, but Koenig ensured the game would go to overtime as he turned Alvaro Calle's shot away.

Eight minutes in to the first overtime period, Ribeiro recorded another shot, but again it was stopped by Haefner. The Redhawks then followed with pressure in the final two minutes, recording a shot that was blocked and a corner kick, but they could not convert.

In the second overtime, Ripon's Bob Bradbury recorded the only shot, but Koenig came up the save in the 109th minute, and the game ended in a 0-0 tie.

This marks the second time in three years Edgewood College and Ripon have tied. In 2009 the teams played a 1-1 tie in Ripon.

The Redhawks tallied 10 shots in the game with four being on net while the Eagles posted eight shots with five being on target. Ribeiro and Pampuch led the Eagles with three and two shots, respectively.

The Eagles stay the road as they travel to take on St. Norbert College on Sunday. Kickoff from De Pere is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
