FULTON, Mo. – The Edgewood College men's soccer team played another close hard fought game for the second time in two games this season. This time the contest took place on the road, at Westminster College where the Blue Jays snuck past the Eagles with a slim 1-0 victory.
Westminster (2-1) put pressure on the Eagle defense early and often and finally broke through with an early goal. In the sixth minute, Sasha Mohamadi took a pass from Jeff Chacko and deposited the ball in the back of the net to give the Blue Jays the 1-0 advantage.
After being outshot in the first half, the Eagles (0-2) attacked the Blue Jays many times in the second half as they ripped 11 shots to Westminster's six in the second frame. Edgewood College outshot the Blue Jays 15-12 in the game. However, Taylor Webb, the Blue Jays goalkeeper was up to the task as he stopped all six shots he faced in the contest.
Nate Hedrington laced a team high four shots for the Eagles while Greg Dezell took three shots of his own. Zach Miller and Brad Swenson were next on the team with two shots apiece. In goal, Kyle Koenig recorded five saves for the Eagles.
Edgewood College will next be in action on Sunday when the play at Illinois College before returning home. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
