RIPON, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's soccer team came away with their second 1-1 tie of the season at Ripon College on Saturday. The Eagles took the early lead just as they did in the season opener against UW-Superior, but were not able to hold it as the Red Hawks tied the game in the 73rd minute. The Eagles and Red Hawks went scoreless over the final 27 minutes and the game ended in a tie.
The Eagles (0-0-2) were able to tally 14 total shots, but they only managed to get one past the Red Hawk goalkeepers. Jerrid Dokey netted is first goal of the season in the 29th minute to give the Eagles the lead. Greg Dezell accounted for half of the Eagles shots himself as he took seven. Andriy Apetrey tallied three shots, Dokey took two and Woody Burns accounted for one.
In goal, Shane Sullivan again only gave up one goal on 10 shots while making six saves for the Eagles. The Red Hawks (0-1-1) were able to slide one by Sullivan to tie the game in the 73rd minutes.
The Eagles will next be in action on September 9 at Breese Stevens Field where they will host Beloit College. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
