Box Score

MADISON, Wis. – Just like yesterday against Benedictine University, the Edgewood College men's soccer team would tally two late goals as they topped Lawrence University 2-0. The win pushed the Eagles winning streak to four games, their longest such streak since 2006 when they won five in a row.

With just 15 minutes to play, junior Andy Witek let a cross fly from the left side, Andriy Apetrey was able to control the pass and slid it into the net to give the Eagles (4-1-2) the lead. Edgewood College would strike again just three minutes later as Greg Dezell and Brandon Jerstad got behind the Viking defenders. Jerstad took a cross from Apetrey and slid it across to Dezell who netted his third goal of the season and second in the last two games.

The Vikings best opportunities to score came in the first half, as Bennett Pang was able to get off two shots just eight minutes apart, one sailed left and the other was stopped by Eagle goalkeeper Kyle Koenig. The Vikings would threaten again in the final minute of the frame as Koenig would make a diving save on shot from the top of the box to make sure the scored stayed tied at halftime.

After Edgewood College was outshot 4-3 in the first half, they turned on the offense as they tallied nine shots in the second fame. Their defense also got better as they only allowed the Vikings to get off one shot during the second 45 minutes. The pressure would pay off for the Eagles as they netted two goals in the last 15 minutes to take the 2-0 victory.

The Eagles will next be in action on Wednesday when they travel to Elmhurst, Ill. where they will take on the Blue Jays in a non-conference matchup. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
