Box Score
MADISON, Wis. - Showing an impressive display of accurate crosses and finishing volleys, the Edgewood College men's soccer team moved to 2-0 in the Northern Athletics Conference with an 8-0 victory over Concordia University Chicago. Junior Jerrid Dokey and senior Mike Paroubeck each scored twice in the match.
Dokey began the day's scoring by sending a cross to Andriy Apetrey who cut in front of a Cougar defender and volleyed the ball home just five minutes into the match.
The next two clips on the highlight real belonged to Dokey alone. First, he collected a neatly threaded through ball from Andrew Witek and beat Cougar goalkeeper John Gehm for his first goal. Just 1:10 later, Anthony Colletti sent a cross to left side of the penalty area, to which Dokey leaped and hammered a volley just under the cross bar for his second goal of the day.
Paroubeck netted his first goal later in the first half, cutting in from the left sideline, beating two defenders and then scoring into the lower left corner of the net. The senior forward's second goal came on a second half restart when Jim Brandon placed a perfect cross to Paroubeck who was waiting on the doorstep.
Dokey and Matt Pampuch set up Greg Dezell with a pair of nifty one-touch passes for Dezell's second goal of the season and Dokey's second assist of the day. Nick Lombardino scored just one minute short of halftime when he followed up a saved shot by Colletti. The Eagles rounded out the scoring in the 76th minute as Pampuch found Taylor Stofflet for a header, giving the freshman forward the first goal of his career.
Edgewood College (4-4, 2-0 NAC) will have a week to prepare as they attempt to achieve their first two-game winning streak of the season. The Eagles will play at Dominican University in River Forest, Ill. next Saturday, before enjoying their annual Alumni match on Sunday, September 28.
