MADISON, Wis. - The Edgewood College men's soccer team discovered the field at Breese Stevens Stadium to be tilted decisively in the favor of UW-Whitewater in their match on Friday night. The Warhawks spent most of the match in the Eagles half of the field in a 2-0 non-conference victory.

Edgewood College goalkeeper Shane Sullivan made a valiant effort to keep the Eagles in the game, recording 13 saves on 15 shots on goal, before yielding the final 12 minutes to backup Kyle Koenig. The Warhawks ended up outshooting the Eagles 33-3 for the match.

UW-Whitewater (7-4-2) scored their first goal in the fifth minute when Matt Gehn, redirected a Jake Duros blast past Sullivan. The Warhawks second tally came late in the first half. Dan Montanye fired a shot which Sullivan deflected off the crossbar. The rebound fell to Ryan Richgels who pushed the ball back under the crossbar before Sullivan could swat it away.

The Eagles (7-8) will be back in action at home on Wednesday against Concordia University Wisconsin. With a 5-3 record in Northern Athletics Conference play, the Eagles are anxious to lock up postseason berth and improve their seed. The match begins at 7:00 p.m.
