(Jan. 19, 2008) – The Edgewood College men’s basketball team opened up a comfortable 13-point halftime lead and maintained it through the second half to earn an 82-70 victory at Seaver Gym on Saturday. The win was the Eagles sixth in a row and kept them within two games of the lead in the Northern Athletics Conference race.

Edgewood College (9-6, 6-2 NAC) was led by Chris DeMarco, who took advantage of 12 trips to the free throw line, made 10 and finished with 18 points. John Fahey made five of 10 shots from the field to rack up 13 points, while Jon Ciche earned his third double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Charlie Averkamp saw his string of five consecutive double-doubles end with an eight point, five rebound and five assist performance. The Eagles went 19-for-23 (82.6 percent) from the free throw line in the game.

Rockford College (0-16, 0-9 NAC) shot just 31.4 percent in the first half in dropping their 26th consecutive game. The Regents were led by a trio of double digit scorers, topped off by Ed Thomas and Brandon Davis with 16 point apiece. Renell Taylor chipped in 13 in the losing effort.
