Volleyball Eagles look ahead to NAC opener

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (Sept. 8, 2007) -- Edgewood College is still searching for its first win of the season as the Eagles fell to UW-Platteville and Coe College by scores of 3-0 Saturday to conclude the Impact Sports/Nike UW-Platteville Volleyball Tournament. The Eagles must now turn their focus to their first Northern Athletics Conference match of the season this Tuesday, Sept. 11 at Lakeland College.

UW-Platteville finished the two-day tournament with a 3-1 record, along with Monmouth College and Coe College. However, the Pioneers were crowned tournament champions based upon the team's winning percentage (.785) on total number of games at 11-3. The Pioneers defeated Edgewood College in the early match Saturday 30-15, 30-18, 30-27. Coe finished second overall winning 11 of 18 games (.611). Coe defeated Edgewood College 30-25, 30-14, 30-19.

The Eagles travel Tuesday to Sheboygan, Wis. for their seventh straight road match to open the 2007 season. The Muskies finished fourth in the NAC in 2006, and were predicted to finish fourth in the league this year, according the NAC Coaches' Preseason Poll, behind Benedictine University. The Eagles were picked to finish ninth ahead of Rockford College, Marian College, Dominican University, and Alverno College.
