MADISON, Wis. (Sept. 25, 2007) -- Playing at Warner Park for the first time this season and not at their normal friendly home confines of Breese Stevens Field the Edgewood College men's soccer team earned its fourth shutout win of the season Tuesday with a 2-0 decision over Marian College.
Kevin Fisher (Green Bay, Wis.) notched his team-leading eighth goal of the season, the eventual game-winner, in the 13th minute off an assist from Shaun Glynn (Prairie du Sac, Wis.) to give the Eagles (5-3, 3-0 NAC) the early advantage.
Fisher and Andriy Apetrey (Lozani, Ukraine) then assisted Mike Bourgeois (Hartford, Wis.) in the 61st minute to give Edgewood College some extra insurance, as if having Francisco Yacuta-Santana (Verona, Wis.) between the posts wasn't enough. Santana recorded four saves while bettering his goals against average to 1.08.
Edgewood College will face perhaps its toughest challenge of the Northern Athletics Conference season this Saturday, Sept. 29 when preseason favorite Dominican University comes to Madison. The Stars (8-2, 4-0 NAC) will be going for their ninth straight win and are currently ranked No. 21 in NCAA Division III, according to the latest D3kicks.com men’s soccer poll.
