DePERE, Wis. (Sept. 2, 2007) -- St. Norbert College, ranked No. 22 in the D3Kicks.com NCAA Division III preseason men's soccer poll, defeated Edgewood College by a final score of 5-3 Sunday. The Green Knights capitalized early on the offensive end, with four goals in the first half.

Local talents Kevin Fisher (Green Bay, Wis.), Jerrid Dokey (Green Bay, Wis.), and Mike Paroubeck (DePere, Wis.) each scored for the Eagles, who fall to 1-1 overall to start the 2007 season. Ryan Manske (Green Bay, Wis.) also added an assist. But it was too little, too late for Edgewood College despite outscoring St. Norbert 3-1 in the final 45 minutes.

Adam Sanchez scored twice for the Green Knights (2-0), both in the first half. Fisher's goal came off a penalty kick in the 45th minute to make it 4-1. St. Norbert's lone goal in the second half also was a penalty kick, which was converted by Amir St. Clair in the 72nd minute. Altogether it was a very physical match with 38 fouls called, including seven yellow cards, four on the Eagles.

Edgewood College will play for the first time this season at Breese Stevens Field when they return home to face Lawrence University in a non-conference match this Friday, Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. Former Edgewood College defender Tyler Burcalow will be honored before the start of the game with a special onfield ceremony to remember the former student-athlete who passed away earlier this summer.
