MADISON, Wis. (Sept. 19, 2007) – UW-Platteville, ranked No. 5 in the Central Region according to the latest
D3kicks.com men’s soccer poll, scored four unanswered goals Wednesday en route to a 4-1 win over Edgewood College from Breese Stevens Field.
Mike Bourgeois (Hartford, Wis.) converted on a penalty kick in the 82nd minute to avoid the shutout. Meanwhile, Eagles’ goalkeeper
Francisco Yacuta-Santana (Verona, Wis.) earned five saves, but it wasn’t enough to stop a high-powered Pioneers (5-2) team that rifled off nine shots on goal.
Edgewood College (3-3) had its opportunities on offense with 11 shots total, but only two of which were on goal, including back-to-back headers by
Mike Paroubeck (DePere, Wis.) and
Jerrid Dokey (Green Bay, Wis.) late in the contest.
Edgewood College will play the remainder of its home matches at Warner Park in Madison due to renovations at Breese Stevens Field scheduled to begin next week. The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 22 at Concordia University Chicago.
