COTTAGE GROVE, Wis. (Sept. 16, 2007) – With a team score of 313 Edgewood College sits in fourth place after the first round of the Culver’s Edgewood College Fall Classic played Sunday at The Oaks Golf Course.
Joe Schwartz (McFarland, Wis.) shot a 76, five-over par, and
Andy Hosking (Madison, Wis.) carded a 77, as the Eagles trail frontrunner Robert Morris College by 11 strokes heading into the final round.
Perhaps the individual highlight of the day was a hole-in-one from Southwestern Tech’s Matt Kersten whose ball one-hopped into the cup on the 156-yard, par-3 seventh hole.
However, Edgewood College led the 22-team field with two Eagles overall, one each from Schwartz (t-8th) and Hosking (t-10th) who were the only Edgewood College golfers to place in the top-10 today. Junior varsity members
Andrew Gutzman (Green Bay, Wis.) shot a 77 to lead the Edgewood Black squad and
Mark Fields (Monroe, Wis.) shot 78 to pace the Edgewood White team.
Robert Morris’ Chris Myers tops the individual leaderboard and enjoys a small cushion with a one-under 70 to lead Adam Chandler, a junior varsity player for UW-Stout, at three-over 74.
Monday’s final round will be a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m.
