MADISON, Wis. (Sept. 15, 2007) – Forward
Andriy Apetrey (Lozani, Ukraine) and midfielder
Kevin Fisher (Green Bay, Wis.) each scored a goal and combined for four assists Saturday in a 5-0 Edgewood College win over Benedictine University in the Eagles’ Northern Athletics Conference opener from Breese Stevens Field.
The duo assisted
Stephan Mesdjian’s (Stoughton, Wis.) go-ahead goal just under the five-minute mark and the Eagles never looked back, as the home team score twice more in the first half to take a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Mike Bourgeois (Hartford, Wis.) converted on a penalty kick in the 33rd minute followed by a
Jerrid Dokey (Green Bay, Wis.) goal at 41:27.
Apetrey and Fisher then assisted one another scoring back-to-back goals in the 58th and 59th minutes, respective, to help close the deal. Edgewood College’s offense was firing on all cylinders with a season-high 18 shots on goal in the contest.
The Eagles (3-2, 1-0 NAC) will host UW-Platteville on Wednesday, Sept. 19 in what is likely to be their last home contest at Breese Stevens Field this season, as renovations to the historic venue will soon begin.
