MADISON, Wis. (Sept. 15, 2007) – Edgewood College looked dominant at times Saturday in its 2-0 shutout over Benedictine University at Breese Stevens Field. With the victory, the Eagles improved to 5-1 overall and a perfect 2-0 in Northern Athletics Conference matches.
Both Edgewood College goals came early in the first half beginning with Elyse Clouthier’s (Oconomowoc, Wis.) header, a putback off an Erika Thompson (Waukesha, Wis.) shot at 12:40 that ricocheted off the cross bar. Molly Boberschmidt then found the back of the net in the 21st minute off an assist from Heather Miller (Belgium, Wis.) and Laura Marx (New Berlin, Wis.).
The Eagles’ defense managed to hold Benedictine to just one shot on goal and five shots total. Edgewood College will be back in action with a conference match versus Marian College on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
