MADISON, Wis. (Sept. 15, 2007) – Edgewood College women’s tennis rolled to a pair of 8-1 victories Saturday over Northern Athletics Conference opponents Benedictine University and Aurora University from Quann Park. Edgewood College has now won its last five matches and improved to 5-0 in NAC play, as the Eagles prep for a showdown with preseason favorite Concordia University – Wisconsin next week.

Leslie Reed (Freeport, Ill.) and Brittany Storhoff (Lodi, Wis.) remained undefeated against league opponents at No. 3 doubles and the Eagles swept all doubles points Saturday to begin both matches with a 3-0 lead.

Also moving forward with records unscathed in 2007 NAC matches were Kelsey Steinhorst (Baraboo, Wis.) at No. 2 singles, Kate Brondyke (Clinton, Iowa) at No. 3 singles, and Megan Sura (Superior, Wis.) at No. 4 singles.

“The team played well and took care of business again,” said head coach Rob Barber. “They had opportunities to further develop and work on their games in preparation for a big showdown with Concordia - Wisconsin coming up.”

Edgewood College travels to Mequon, Wis. to play the Falcons (3-1, 3-0 NAC) on Wednesday, Sept. 19.

“With only two days of practice remaining to prepare, Wednesday will be the true test of just how far we have come,” Barber said. “I'm hoping the team really puts together their best two practices of the season and is ready to seize the opportunity before them.”
