Men's golf opens 2007 season at Augsburg Invitational

CHASKA, Minn. (Sept. 10, 2007) -- The Edgewood College men's golf team opened up their 2007 fall campaign by placing 11th out of 17 teams at the Augsburg Fall Invitational at Chaska Town Course in Chaska, Minn. on Monday.

The Eagles, who are favored in the 2007 NAC coaches poll to win the conference, were led by senior John Bailey (Madison, Wis.) who finished with the eighth best first round score of 75. Bailey then scored a 80 in the final round to compile a score of 155 which was good enough for a tie for 22nd place overall. Junior Andy Hosking (Madison, Wis.) finished one stroke higher than Bailey as he scored a 156 which was good enough for 25th place.

Gustavus Adolphus claimed the team title as they bolstered a team score of 589 and had two medialists as Eric Harris finished with an even par in both rounds to finish first while Jordan Hawkinson scored a 148 to finished tied for second overall.

The Eagles next host their only tournament of the fall in the Culver's Edgewood College Invitational which will be played on Sept. 16th-17th at The Oaks Golf Course in Cottage Grove, Wis.
