MADISON, Wis. (April 30, 2007) – The Eagles (23-9) were hitting well in the first of two seven inning games against the Loras College Duhawks (18-15). A hit-filled sixth inning led Edgewood College to a win with a score of 10-2. As game two got underway, a thunderstorm began rolling in which resulted in three and a half innings played in an incomplete game.
In the complete game, pitcher Bill Dictus (Combined Locks, Wis.) and the rest of the Eagle defense were able to putout the first nine Duhawk batters. In the same three innings, Edgewood College bolted to an early 3-0 lead. The Duhawks ended the shutout when their leadoff batter hit a one-run homer to begin the fourth inning. The fifth inning began rough for the Eagles as Dictus took a line drive to his right wrist. Dictus finished that inning giving up just one unearned run before Rick Walsh (Green Lake, Wis.) stepped in with the save. The Eagles took seven more runs in the sixth to finish the game 10-2.
