WOODRIDGE, Ill. (April 14, 2007) –
The Edgewood College men’s golf team tied for second with the hosting team in this year’s Benedictine University Spring Invitational. Today’s event brought together 35 golfers from seven of the Northern Athletics Conference schools to the Seven Brides Golf Course in Woodridge, Ill.
The Eagles of Edgewood College and the Eagles of Benedictine University both finished with a four-golfer score of 332 (+44). This put both of these teams just eight strokes away from the top team at today’s event, Aurora University, who posted a 324 (+36) for the day. Mike Brennan (Sauk City, Wis.) posted the Edgewood College low score of the day with a 78 (+6). This put Brennan tied for second with Andrew Delaney and R.J. Schwalbach from Benedictine University. Junior Joe Schwartz (McFarland, Wis.) finished tied for 11th with an 86 (+14). Today’s match-low score was posted by Alex Kline-Wedeen, who beat out the second-place finishers by one stroke, with a 77 (+5).
Edgewood College will follow Aurora University to their own tournament tomorrow, April 15. The Aurora Invitational will be held at Blackberry Oaks Golf Course in Bristol, Ill. Tee time is scheduled for noon.
