RIVER FOREST, Ill. (February 10, 2007) --
The Edgewood College men's basketball team rebounded after their frustrating loss at Aurora earlier this week by cruising over the Cougars by the score of 81-68.
The Eagles (14-7, 12-3 NAC) held a steady lead of five with under eight minutes remaining in the first half before they opened the game up by going on a 14-5 run which was capped by back to back Kyle Scott (Burlington, Wis.) three pointers to give the Eagles a comfortable lead of 14 at the half. That lead was all the Eagles would need to stay ahead as they even extended the lead to as many as 22. The Cougars (4-19, 3-13 NAC) gave the Eagles one last scare as Ryan Young nailed a three pointer with 4:25 remaining in the game but the Eagles responded and never let the lead slip to below ten as they went on to win by 13.
Chris DeMarco (Appleton, Wis.) after failing to score in double digits for only the second time this season against Aurora, DeMarco responded to lead the team for his 15th time this season with 24 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the floor and by converting on 8-of-12 free throw shots. Scott and Evan Klees (Madison, Wis.) also scored in double digits with 13 and 10 points respectively while John Fahey (Oregon, Wis.) scored a season high 13 points in the winning effort.
The Eagles (14-7, 12-3 NAC) shot a combined 50.9-percent from the field and made nearly 40-percent of their three point attempts. The Eagles now sit a game and a half behind Aurora University who survived a scare from Dominican University tonight as they escaped with a 83-80 overtime victory. The Eagles now travel to Rockford, Ill. for their last road NAC match-up with the Regents on Feb. 13th, 2007.
