MADISON, Wis. (Oct. 8, 2007) – UW-Stevens Point used a Kaylee Weise goal in the 75th minute Saturday to hand Edgewood College just its second loss of the season, a 1-0 shutout by the Pointers at Warner Park. The non-conference loss drops the Eagles to 11-2 overall, while the Pointers improved to 9-3-1.

Weiss beat a lone Edgewood College defender to the right corner, then dribbled all alone in front of the Eagles net where she had a one-on-one situation with goalkeeper Ilana Bar-av (Madison, Wis.), who was nearly flawless all evening. Bar-av recorded nine save altogether, many of them acrobatic, as the Pointers presented a strong offensive attack.

UWSP out-shot the Eagles 20-8 overall. The Pointers controlled possession throughout most of the first half, but Edgewood College evened things out in the final 45 minutes by taking better care of the ball and turning it over less.
Edgewood College will be back at home this weekend with a 3 p.m. contest at Warner Park against Wisconsin Lutheran College.
