MADISON, Wis. (Oct. 5, 2007) – Edgewood College won its second straight match, 3-2, in come-from-behind fashion by defeating Dominican University 24-30,30-27,19-30,30-25,15-12 from the Todd Wehr Edgedome on Friday night.
The Eagles (6-11, 3-5 NAC) have now won six of their last nine matches.
It looked as though Edgewood College may have run out of steam following a devastating third game in which the Stars (4-16, 1-6 NAC) hit. 256 with 14 kills and just three attack errors But the Eagles got back on track and never trailed in the final two games.
Nina Brown (McFarland, Wis.) registered a career-high 16 kills and a .306 attack percentage to lead the offensive effort, while
Hannah Williams (Richland Center, Wis.) had 31 assists and four service aces. Defensively, the squad had 13 team blocks and five Eagles recorded double digits in digs paced by 29 digs from
Kim Lueck (Wausau, Wis.).
Dominican’s Darcy Kammeier swung 86 times resulting in 28 kills, including 16 attack errors. Anka Niemczewska posted a match-high 45 assist in addition to 12 digs and six kills, barely missing a triple-double.
Edgewood College will be right back in action Saturday with a noon home contest against Concordia University Chicago.
