Fisher hat-trick powers Eagles past Muskies

MADISON, Wis. (Oct. 29, 2007) -- Eagles midfielder Kevin Fisher (Green Bay, Wis.) scored a hat-trick to lead the #3 seeded Edgewood College past #6 seeded Lakeland College 5-0, under the lights at Warner Park in a first round Northern Athletics Conference tournament game.

Edgewood College’s Kevin Fisher started off the scoring on a diving header in the 17th minute off a Jim Brandon (DeForest, Wis.) pass. Fisher would strike again just seven minutes later with a goal off of a pass by teammate Andriy Apetrey (Lozani, Ukraine). Mike Bourgeois (Hartford, Wis.) netted the games third goal at the 34 minute mark. Kevin Fisher would strike for the third and final time in the 36th minute off a Mike Paroubek (DePere, Wis.) pass to complete the first half hat-trick. Substitute Greg Dezell (Oconomowoc, Wis.) scored unassisted in the 39th minute to up the lead to 5-0. Neither team would score in the second half. Goalie Francisco Yacuta-Santana (Verona, Wis.) and Forward/Goalie Jerrid Dokey (Green Bay, Wis.) collaborated for the shutout.

The win advances Edgewood College to the second round of the Northern Athletics Conference tournament and improves their record to 10-7 overall. The Eagles will travel to Aurora, Ill. to face the #2 seeded Aurora University Spartans on Wednesday October 31. The loss drops the Lakeland Muskies to 4-14 overall and ended their soccer season. In the other first round game today, #4 seed Concordia (Wis.) shutout #5 seed Wisconsin Lutheran 4-0. Concordia (Wis.) will play top seeded Dominican University on Wednesday in River Forest, Ill.
