MEQUON, Wis. (Oct. 23, 2007) – The Edgewood College men’s soccer team scored just 49 seconds into the game en route to a 3-0 victory over Concordia University(WI) in a Northern Athletics Conference game Tuesday afternoon.
Tyler Duellman (South Milwaukee, Wis.) netted the games first goal 49 seconds into the contest off of an assist by Andriy Apetrey (Lozani, Ukraine). The Eagles would strike again, as Jim Brandon (DeForest, Wis.) scored an unassisted goal in the 18th minute to push the Eagles lead to 2-0. Andriy Apetrey would score the games third and final goal just 4 minutes later in the 22nd minute, assisted by teammates Mike Paroubeck (DePere, Wis.) and Kevin Fisher (Green Bay, Wis.). Edgewood College would take a 3-0 lead into halftime and neither team scored in the second half. The Eagles had 7 shots in the game, all of which occurred in the first half. The Falcons had four players receive yellow cards in the game and managed to outshoot Edgewood College in the game 8-7.
The win improves the Eagles record to 9-6 on the year and 7-2 in Northern Athletics Conference play. Concordia falls to 11-5-1 on the year and 7-3 in conference play. The Eagles conclude the regular season on Saturday October 27th in Aurora, Ill. for a Northern Athletics Conference game against Aurora University. The win solidified that Edgewood College will host a first round NAC tournament game. The Conference tournament starts next week with the top six teams qualifying.
