Eagles dominate Inferno

MADISON, Wis. (Oct. 20,2007)—The Edgewood College women’s soccer team scored early and often to defeat Alverno College 9-0 Saturday in Milwaukee. The victory was the team’s second straight shutout.

 

Tammi Hagensick (Madison, Wis.) kicked off the scoring with an unassisted goal just 3 minutes into the game. Laura Marx (New Berlin, Wis.), Elyse Clouthier (Oconomowoc, Wis.), Amanda Rhyner (Delavan, Wis.) and Erika Thompson (Waukesha, Wis.) all scored in the first half to give the Eagles a 5-0 lead going into halftime. Elyse Clouthier and Erika Thompson both netted their second goal of the game in the second half, while Christina Senn (Pewaukee, Wis.) and Sarah Mueller (Madison, Wis.) added a goal apiece. Edgewood College had 36 shots in the game.

 

The win improves Edgewood College’s record to 13-2 overall and 9-0 in Northern Athletics Conference play. Alverno College falls to 6-11 on the year and 1-9 in NAC play. The Eagles have just two games remaining in the regular season. Both games are conference games on the road. Edgewood College will travel to Watertown, Wis. on Thursday October 25 to face Maranatha Baptist and will conclude the regular season on Saturday October 27 in Aurora, Ill. against Aurora University.
