MADISON, Wis. (January 27th, 2007) -- The Eagles and the Warriors squared off in an old fashioned battle Saturday evening in the second half of the Jam the Gym double header at the Todd Wehr Edgedome. The Eagles shot over 62-percent (18-for-29) in the second half as they edged the Warriors of Wisconsin Lutheran 96-90.

With just over ten minutes remaining in the second half, Chris DeMarco (Appleton, Wis.) slashed around the hoop to score two of his game high 29 points and give the Eagles (12-5, 10-1 NAC) their largest lead of the evening at 10. The Warriors (8-10, 5-6 NAC) then fought back behind Christian Lindberg and Micah Biesterfeld who combined to score 32 points in the second half.

With under three minutes remaining in the game, Warrior Nate Sorum drilled a three pointer to bring the Warriors to within four. But with 1:15 remaining on the game clock and the shot clock winding down, Charlie Averkamp (New Berlin, Wis.) nailed a three-pointer to bring the Eagle lead back to eight. However, Biesterfeld came back to nail a three of his own and followed that up with a lay-up to bring them to within three with under a minute remaining.

The Warriors fouled to send Kyle Scott (Burlington, Wis.) to the line where he converted on both free-throws with :40 seconds remaining to give the Eagles a five point lead. DeMarco then extended the lead in the next possesion by making one of two free-throws. Biesterfeld again led the comeback charge as he converted on his sixth three-pointer of the evening to cut the lead to three.

Scott again converted on one of two free-throws for the Eagles to extend the lead to four. And after a missed three-pointer by Warrior Marcus Zondag, Averkamp went to the line where he iced the game by making both of his free-throws to give the Eagles their seventh straight win.

DeMarco's 29 points is a career high and Averkamp now needs just one point for 1,000 in his career. DeMarco grabbed 10 rebounds to give him the double-double. The Eagles now travel to Fond Du Lac, Wis. for a match-up with Marian College on January 30th where they look to keep their streak alive and remain on top of the conference standings.
