APPLETON, Wis. (September 26, 2006) – With the score knotted at 1-1 in the second overtime period, Evan Klees (Madison, Wis.) scored the game winning goal on an assist from Tyler Burcalow (Middleton, Wis.) to give Edgewood College men’s soccer a 2-1 win at Lawrence University.
A tight match the entire way through, the Vikings (4-4-0) scored first on a goal by Rick Moore at the 67:40 mark, but Jerrid Dokey (Green Bay, Wis.) tallied the equalizer in the 70th minute on an assist from Ben Rewasiewicz (Milwaukee, Wis.). Klees’ goal finally gave the Eagles (5-2-2) the break they were looking for at 103:19 into the contest.
Edgewood’s 14 shots was just one more than the Vikings, but the Eagles dominated on corner kicks, 12-2. Edgewood goalkeeper Ryan Flohr (Fond du Lac, Wis.) made eight stops, while his counterpart Steve Schnorr registered six saves.
