MADISON, Wis. (September 13, 2006) – Edgewood College sophomores Molly Boberschmidt (Waukesha, Wis.) and Erika Thompson (Waukesha, Wis.) each tallied two goals and an assist as Edgewood College shutout Concordia University – Chicago, 7-0, in the Northern Athletics Conference opener from Breese Stevens Field on Wednesday.
Thompson put the Eagles (3-2, 1-0 NAC) on the scoreboard five minutes into the match on a penalty kick and scored again on a tandem assist from Tammi Hagensick (Madison, Wis.) and Elyse Clouthier (Oconomowoc, Wis.) in the 15th minute.
Thompson then found Boberschmidt in the 23rd minute as the Eagles quickly jumped out to 3-0 advantage. The offensive explosion didn’t stop there, however, with Kelli Sullivan (Chippewa Falls, Wis.) and Larissa Nach (Monroe, Wis.) both finding the back of the Cougars’ net in the first half. The Eagles rounded out their scoring on a goal Clouthier, who also had two assists.
Edgewood out-shot Concordia 32-1 in the lopsided victory. The Cougars’ (0-4-1, 0-1 NAC) first and only shot on goal didn’t come until the 52:37 mark.
The Eagles will be back in action at Rockford College on Sept. 17.
