FOND DU LAC, Wis. (September 11, 2006) -- The Edgewood College men's golf team started the 2006-07 campaign strong as the Eagles finished 2nd at the Marian College Invitational on Monday at Whispering Springs Golf Course.

The Eagles combined to shoot a team score of 657 (321-336) which left only the Milwaukee School of Engineering ahead of them with a score of 627.

Jon Lapham (Eureka, Ca.) paced the Eagles with a combined score of 163 (81-82) to give him the 10th place finish among individuals at the two-day tournament. The Eagles were also given strong performances by Aaron Gavin (South Milwaukee, Wis.), who finished tied for 11th with a 165, Mike Fields (Monroe, Wis.), who finished 15th with a 167, and Austin McGinley (Mount Horeb, Wis.) who finished 16th with a 168. McGinley's first round score of 75 was good enough for third place among the competitors in round one.

The Eagles will now look to stay hot as they host the Culver's Edgewood College Classic at The Oaks Golf Course in Cottage Grove, Wis. Sept. 17-18.
