RIVER FOREST, Ill. (November 1, 2006) -- Edgewood College forced top-seeded Dominican University into a shootout Wednesday in the Northern Athletics Conference men's soccer tournament semifinal match. Although the result of the match was a 0-0 tie, it was the host Stars, ranked No. 2 in the latest NCAA Division III Central Region pool, who advanced over the fourth seeded Eagles by virtue of the shootout, 4-2.
Shaun Glynn (Prairie du Sac, Wis.) rejoiced after his attempt was successful to even the shootout at 1-1, but the Eagles (11-4-3) proceeded to miss their next two shots. Dominican got back ahead 3-1 before Evan Klees (Madison, Wis.) gave the College a glimmer of hope by connecting on his lone opportunity, but the Stars' Elvin Perez ended that hope and the Eagles' season on Dominican's next shot attempt.
The Stars (17-1-1) advance to the championship match of the NAC tournament where they will face third seeded Concordia University - Wisconsin.
