Women's golf runs away with Marian Invite

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (Sept. 7, 2005) -- The Edgewood College women's golf team picked right back up where they left off in 2004. The Eagles, who are the defending Lake Michigan Conference champions, won their first LMC-sanctioned meet of the new season by 107 strokes Wednesday, participating at the Marian College Invitational held at Rolling Meadows Golf Course.

Edgewood College posted a final score of 359 with Lakeland College finishing in a distant second place at 466. Junior Taryn Rechlicz (Madison, Wis.) tied for the individual lead with an 82, but lost the tie-breaker to Amanda Commons of Concordia University by virtue of the first-hole handicap.

Newcomer Casey Brandreth (Brighton, Mich.) was perhaps the biggest surprise of the day as she secured a third place finish individually by shooting a 90. Rounding out the group was Nicole Gluzinski (Lindenhurst, Ill.), who finished fourth with a 93, Lindsay Secard (Manawa, Wis.) and Kaitlyn Herzog (Waukesha, Wis.), who placed sixth and seventh with a 94 and 97, respectively.
