Women's golf wins Clarke Invite

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Sept. 15, 2005) – The Edgewood College women’s golf team today captured the team title at the Clarke College Invitational played at the Dubuque Golf and Country Club. The Eagles score of 374 at the one-day event was six strokes better than runner-up UW-Platteville (380).

 

Returning Lake Michigan Conference Player of the Year and NCAA championship qualifier Taryn Rechlicz (Madison, Wis.) finished second on the individual leaderboard with an 87, while teammate Kaitlyn Herzog (Waukesha, Wis.), last year’s LMC Rookie of the Year, placed third with an 89. UW-Platteville’s LeAnn Austinson’s 85 earned her medalist honors.

 

Newcomer Casey Brandreth (Brighton, Mich.) tied for sixth with a 97. 2003 LMC Rookie of the Year Nicole Gluzinski (Lindenhurst, Ill.) rounded out the Eagles’ scoring by finishing 14th overall with a 102.

 

Edgewood College is off to a great start in 2005 having already won three tournaments in the month of September. The Eagles will go for their third straight first-place finish at the Concordia (WI) Invitational being held Wednesday, Sept. 21 at The Squires Country Club in Port Washington, Wis.
