HARTFORD, Wis. (Sept. 12, 2005) – The Edgewood College men’s golf team opened its 2005 fall season at the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational which wrapped up on Monday. The Eagles finished third out of 11 teams at the two-day tournament held at the Washington County Golf Course.

“I was very happy with the second round today,” said head coach Gary Oftedahl. “We struggled on the first day, but bounced back and I think we can even do a little bit better. Overall, this was a good first tournament for us.”

As a team, Edgewood shot a 304 on Monday, which was 14 strokes better (318) than the Eagles shot in Sunday’s first round of play.

Sophomore Andy Hosking (Madison, Wis.) led the Eagles individually with a nine-over-par 153. Hosking fired a 75 in the first round followed by a 78. Evan Holewinski (Middleton, Wis.) posted a 156 followed by a 157 by Joe Schwartz (McFarland, Wis.). Schwartz’s 74 today was the best overall round by an Eagle. Newcomer Dusty Schwab (Waunakee, Wis.) shot a 158 in his first-ever collegiate tournament, while Bob Stilling (Lake Mills, Wis.) wound up with a 162.
