MADISON, Wis. (Dec. 13, 2005)-- The Edgewood College men's basketball team made a late surge in the second half but came up short Tuesday night, falling to UW-La Crosse 70-59 in a non-conference matchup at the Todd Wehr Edgedome.

UW-La Crosse (8-2) jumped out to 41-20 halftime lead against the Eagles (4-5) shooting 50 % from the floor in the first half.  Joe Werner had 12 of his game high 23 points in the first half as he shot 8-9 from the floor for the game.  Joe Bemis also chipped in with 17 points.

The Eagles used a 27-3 run starting at the 9:00 minute mark in the second half to cut the deficit to 11.  The Eagles were sparked by junior Brian Uelman (Eau Claire, Wis.) who had a career high 11 points, including 3-5 from behind the arc.  Senior Seth Cooper* (Madison, Wis.) and sophomore Charlie Averkamp (New Berlin, Wis.) added 15 and 11 points respectively.

The loss drops the Eagles under the .500 mark for the first time this season.  The Eagles are off for finals week and will be back in action after Christmas for the LMC-NIIC Challenge on December 28, and 29 against Eureka College and Benedictine College.
