COTTAGE GROVE, Wis. – Edgewood College men’s golf began its 2004 season by hosting the Culver’s Fall Classic at The Oaks Golf Course in Cottage Grove. The Eagles finished the two-day tournament by finishing fourth out of 15 teams with a final score of 642.
Leading the way for Edgewood College were sophomore Mike Brennan (Sauk Prairie, Wis.) and freshman Andy Hosking (Madison, Wis.), who each shot a two-day total of 160. Freshman Joe Schwartz (McFarland, Wis.) carded a team-low 78 during first-round action, but suffered a setback on round two with a score of 88.
However, the team made a four-stroke improvement from day one by scoring a 319 on the second round. Augsburg College captured the team title with individual medalist honors going to Augsburg’s Andrew Johnson. Johnson shot back-to-back rounds of 70 and 72, respectively, and finished with
an even-par 142.
Edgewood College will play in the Waldorf Fall Invitational in Forest City, Iowa, this Wednesday, Sept. 15.
