In just seven seasons Chaia Huff has set the new standard for Edgewood College Women's Basketball. During the 2022-23 season, Huff became the all-time winningest coach in program history with her 84th win coming over Lakeland University on January 21, 2023. Huff, reached her 50th win at Edgewood College when the Eagles captured the 2019-20 NACC Tournament Championship, led the Eagles to their second-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2020. She followed that up with the Eagles first regular season conference championship since 2005 during the 2020-21 season as the Eagles continue to shine under Huff's leadership.Â
During the 2022-23 campaign, Huff led the Eagles back to the NACC Tournament for the fourth-straight year, the best tournament streak for the Eagles in the NACC.Â
During a challenging and shortened 2020-21 season due to COVID-19, Huff proved she can handle any challenge thrown her way as she led Edgewood College to an 11-5 record and a 9-1 mark in the NACC North. The Eagles shared the regular season NACC North crown with Wisconsin Lutheran College. Huff also several Eagles to individual accolades, including Alyssa Lemirande who was named the NACC North Player of the Year and the WBCA Division III Private College Player of the Year. Bria Lemirande earned NACC North Defensive Player of the Year honors, while both Lemirandes were First Team All-NACC members for a second-straight season. Huff also coached Diamond Pikulyk and Emma Klein to Honorable Meniton recognition.Â
Huff guided Edgewood College to a program-record 25 wins during her fourth season in charge in 2019-20. The Eagles have increased their win total in each season under Huff, including posting 11-game improvements on two separate occassions (2017-18 and 2019-20). During the 25-win season, Edgewood College raced out to a program-best 10-0 start, and also tied the program mark for longest winning streak (12 games). The 12th win during that streak was the NACC Tournament Championship victory over Benedictine, where Huff's Eagles won by 16 points on the road. The Eagles also routed defending NACC Tournament Champion Wisconsin Lutheran (79-57) in the semifinals.Â
Â
Huff coached four players who were recognized by the NACC in 2019-20, including First Team selections Alyssa and Bria Lemirande. Abby Shane was named honorable mention, while Emma Klein was chosen as the Freshman of the Year, the second-straight year the Eagles had the top rookie in the conference.Â
The Eagles have also proven to be outstanding in the classroom under Huff's leadership. In both 2019-20 and 2020-21, Edgewood College was named to the WBCAÂ Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. They were 15th in 2019-20 and 17th in 2020-21 in terms of where the Eagles GPA ranked among all schools in Division III. Alyssa Lemirande was also chosen as a COSIDA Academic All-District pick in 2020-21.Â
In her third season, Huff led the Eagles to a 14-11 overall record, the most wins for the program since the 2013-14 campaign. The Eagles posted an 11-9 record in conference play and also saw three players earn All-NACC recognition, led by Freshman of the Year Lexi Walter. Walter became the first Eagles Women's Basketball player to be named NACC Freshman of the Year (conference began in 2006-07). Abby Shane was named Second Team All-NACC and Alyssa Lemirande earned Honorable Mention All-NACC honors.Â
The Eagles appeared in several national rankings during 2018-19 under Huff's leadership. Edgewood College proved to be one of the top defensive teams in the country, ranking third nationally in 3-point field goal defense (22.6 percent). The Eagles also ranked 11th in field goal percentage defense (32.2 percent). In addition, Brooke Lonigro finished third nationally in assist to turnover ratio (3.74).Â
Â

In her second season at the helm, Huff helped engineer an 11-game turnaround (4th-best in all of Division III) with the nation's youngest team as the Eagles finished with a 11-14, 9-11 NACC record. With a roster made up of 10 freshmen, one sophomore, and one junior, the Eagles finished eighth in the NACCÂ and three games out from qualifying for the NACC tournament.Â
Chaia Huff (first name pronounced KY-ah) comes to Edgewood College after one season as head coach at Grace University in Omaha, Neb. and six seasons in charge of the program at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill.
