In the summer of 2009, Edgewood College named Casey Thousand the 12th women’s basketball coach in school history.

Thousand again made the NACC Tournament in 2014-15 after a 12-14 overall record and an 11-9 mark in conference. She has made the NACC Tournament in every season since she took over the program.

Thousand guided the 2013-14 team to 15 wins for the first time since the 2008-09 season and went 14-6 in NACC play. Her .700 winning percentage in league play was the program's top mark since her first season at the helm, when the Eagles went 13-4 (.765). Thousand and the rest of the Eagles beat No. 5 Benedictine University 63-45 in the NACC Tournament quarterfinals before falling to No. 1 Wisconsin Lutheran 72-55 in the semis. It was the first time the Eagles reached the semifinals since the 2008-09 season.

In 2012-13, Thousand's squad finished 11-14 overall with a 10-8 mark in the NACC, her third winning season in conference in four seasons. One of Thousand's players was named second team All-NACC following the season. The Eagles went 10-15 overall in 2011-12 and 8-10 in the NACC, with Alison Tobin securing All-NAC Honorable Mention honors and Mariah Hill earning a spot on the NAC All-Freshman team.

Just as she did in her rookie season, Thousand led the Eagles to a 14-12 overall record in her second season. In conference play, the Eagles posted a 12-6 record, giving them a third place finish in the North Division. Thousand led the Eagles to their first win over a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team since the 2005-06 season. The Eagles topped UW-Oshkosh 60-51 on December 21 to snap a 12-game losing streak to WIAC schools and the win was Edgewood College's first win over a progam that has won a national title. The Eagles' season ended in a conference tournament quarterfinal with a four point loss at Benedictine University. Thousand coached one player that earned All-NAC recognition, as she was named to the All-NAC second team.

In her first season at the helm of the Eagles, Thousand led Edgewood College to a 14-12 overall record and 13-4 mark in Northern Athletics Conference play, landing the Eagles in a second place tie in the North Division. Thousand guided the Eagles to wins in nine of their last 12 games, with one loss coming in overtime and another in double overtime. The Eagles' season ended in the conference tournament with a three point loss at Benedictine University. Thousand coached two players that garnered honors from the NAC. One player was named second team All-NAC as well as being named to the all-freshman team while the other was named honorable mention All-NAC.

Thousand came to Edgewood College after three years as an assistant coach at Carthage College in Kenosha. Under head coach Tim Bernero, Thousand helped guide the Lady Reds to a 51-28 record and three consecutive appearances in the Collegiate Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament. Last season, Carthage reached the title game falling to then unbeaten and top-ranked Illinois Wesleyan in the final.

Thousand is no stranger to Edgewood College or the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. She was a standout player for NAC rival Lakeland College from 2000 to 2004, earning all-conference recognition every season including a first team all-conference selection in 2003-04. From Lakeland College, she joined the staff at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill. before moving on the Carthage. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sports and Facility Management from Lakeland College and has completed her Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling at Carthage College.
