Mickesh ran in the highly competitive Grand Valley State University Big Meet, where he set a personal record in the 5,000 meter run. In the 5,000 meter field that contained almost 200 runners, Mickesh finished 69th with his personal best time of 15:21.56. He took more than 17 seconds off of his previous fastest 5,000 meter time.
