With all the other matches finished and dual match tied at four, Mendoza defeated William Scoggins of Martin Luther College 6-1, 7-5 at No. 4 singles to give the Eagles the 5-4 win. Earlier in the day, Mendoza and partner Eric Gavinski won their first career doubles match with an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles agaisnst Martin Luther.
